Students sort collections of prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones, and spheres and share descriptions of three-dimensional objects. Students explore the building of three dimensional structures. Students sort two-dimensional shapes by attributes which they have chosen. Two dimensional shapes are identified from drawings and models. Students recognize and create shapes that have symmetry. Students follow directions to move from one position to another and explore their position in relation to objects. Maps, grids, and geometric patterns are explored. Writing is an integral part of the lessons.
