Number patterns and repeating patterns are connected through number lines and number charts. Students develop a sense of numbers through experiences with repeated addition. Numbers up to 500 are investigated. Tables, Venn diagrams, simple graphs, bar graphs, and line plots are all used to display data that is gathered by asking questions about the collections in the kit as well as about themselves. Concepts of range and mode are introduced. Writing about mathematical thinking is an integral part of the lessons.
